McCowan races into 20th-running of Knoxville Nationals; sixth-place finish on prelim night
Dillon McCowan joined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Thursday afternoon to kick off the 20th-annual Knoxville Nationals Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway behind the wheel of his Empire Energy No. 8M machine.
Finishing runner-up in his heat race on the first preliminary night, McCowan started fourth in the $7,000-to-win feature and scored a sixth-place finish after 25-laps. The following night, Dillon once again made the A-Main but finished 24th.
Locked into Saturday's $50,000-to-win main event, Dillon started the 75-lap main event from the fifth-row and faded back outside the Top-15 to finish 18th.
